The production powerhouse & party starter that is Skream, performs for The Essential Mix at 25.
The Essential Mix turned 25 lasted weekend and BBC Radio 1 invited 12 of the most exciting DJs in the world to take the reigns of the UK’s favourite mix show.
Each artist was not only a master of their craft but also had a storied history with both the essential mix and Radio 1. Skream, who has now recorded four essential mixes, was joined on the night by fellow Radio 1 Residency DJs, The Black Madonna and Heidi.
Also celebrating 25 years of the Essential Mix were Shy FX, Krystal Clear, Paul Woolford, Derrick May, Derrick Carter, Patrick Topping, Nicole Moudaber, Erol Alkan and Slam.
Skream’s set was his typical high-energy pounding techno, but he did manage to slip in a few surprises – including a remix of Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”.
