The name on everyone’s lips, Central Cee has returned – kicking off 2021 with a dose of fresh music in the form of new single “Pinging (6 Figures)”. The track follows on from his Top 20 single “Loading”, the lyrically dexterous, jazz-infused drill beat, which has garnered over 20.3 million streams to date, spending 12 weeks in the UK Official Charts and 6 weeks in the UK Top 40.
The new single lands with the news of a forthcoming mixtape titled Wild West – set for release in March 2021. The 14 track project promises to not only showcase the lyrical prowess of this young rapper but also cement the inimitable, stand-out sound that Central Cee has built over the past few months. The project will also feature previous singles “Loading” and “Day In The Life.”
A mysterious character, and the oldest of four brothers, Central Cee has let the music do the talking so far, hitting target after target and maintaining a truly remarkable rapid upward trajectory. In a year where the unexpected has become normal, Central Cee has been making his name heard, displaying a grime-esque flow over melodic, forward-thinking beats. “I’ve always wanted to make it and be successful, so I’ve always applied pressure and been hard on myself” – the 22 year old explains.
Having never missed a carnival, Central Cee is West London through and through. His blend of concise lyricism, layered with introspective thought and social commentary, has given listeners from his area, someone to champion as a new and rising voice in West London’s rap scene. “Just being in west London and having all the different cultural sounds around me growing up played a huge part in what I’m making today, that was my early stage before I started discovering music I could relate to more.”
Not an overnight success, and having put in years of work (releasing music since 2014), Central Cee is showing no signs of slowing down. “Pinging” is another statement of unique musical talent; a star quality impossible to ignore.
