At 17, Chip snagged a MOBO Award for Best Newcomer, and later inked a deal with Sony Music off the back of his early promise.

The Fader

  • At the age of just 30, North London rapper, Chip formerly known as Chipmunk has just recently celebrated his 12th year in music.
  • Chip has a solid catalogue of projects under his belt including an impressive number of album’s, mixtapes and EP’s including a shelf full of accolades such as, Mobo Awards for Best Newcomer, Best Hip Hop and Best Grime and UMA’s for Best Newcomer and Best Collaboration.
  • As he readies the release of his fifth studio album, which he says is going to “cut the game in half”, Chip takes a moment to reflect on the past 15 years, remembering a time before he was considered one of grime’s true pioneers. “I have to be honest, I thought I was gonna be knackered by the age of 25,” he says, laughing. “But now I feel like I’m in the best position I’ve ever been in, with the world at my feet and so many opportunities to take advantage of.”
